According
to local people, Himalayan Black Bears are often seen in the Gasa area.
It should be 5 to 7 bears around Gasa village. One of these bears has ravaged
the storage room of the local boarding school, local people reported. The
bear was also dangerous to humans.
During
their last visit in Gasa (October 2005) Her Majesty Ashi Sangay Tshering
Wangschuk was asked for help. His Majesty, the King, advised the Park Autorities
of the Jigme Dorji National Park to kill the bear for safety reasons. During
night time Park wardens and police staff shot the bear very in the surroundings
